Collage Mania

These are the pieces I've been working on for Collage Mania. These are not the final photos as they are not mounted to 8 x 10 yet, and these are scans not photos. So, the color is a little off and they just don't look quite right. I'm struggling a bit with confidence and not sure I'm in love with these. Maybe the orientation is wrong on some of them. Or maybe it is basic design problems? Or they aren't done? Or they are over done? What do you think?

All artists struggle at times with confidence and maybe with every piece. What are your current struggles with your art?

I don't know what you're talking about, Heidi. I'm particularly taken with the last piece with the flower and think it's perfect for Collage Mania. I think that perhaps the last line collage needs something else, a little tension to break it up. But all the pieces have wonderful color and positive energy. Try to give yourself a break.

I relate a great deal to you struggle with your art identity. I often ask myself "who am I?", as I cannot bring myself to say I am an artist yet--still just a quilter...But--I'm gonna bite the bullet and submit my Mushrooms quilt to Collage Mania--it's not done yet, either...
Anyway, I love your work! And really--you know in your heart when a pice is "done"...I think any one of them are great for Collage Mania. I guess you have to do the same--just send them in! Good luck!

I think you are being too hard on yourself! Your pieces are very up beat and well executed. Hey, we all struggle and it is ok to vent.
Have a good one and send those to the auction rt away!!

I like the last one, too. The colors, the uneven edges, the quotation and the hand stitching all work to make it a great piece.

Heidi, I understand not feeling confident, but confidence comes with experience and experience comes after practice and hard work. Your pieces are beautiful - I especially like the two in the middle. Maybe I'll be the lucky bidder on one! Give yourself credit for the juggle of life and a pat on the back for keeping all of the balls in the air at the same time-

Heidi - I am proud to own several of your artworks as they are always positive and unique. I have NO doubts that your collages for Collage Mania will be extremely popular. Finish them up and send them out into the world where they will be appreciated. Take care, V.

I love the one with the painting quote. How did you get the edges to look so cool?
