Watercolor pastels on fabric

playing around with a piece of fabric with my watercolor crayons today. really layered them on thick and starting to get some of the kind of results i was hoping for. now i just need to figure out to make sure they are permanent without messing it up. i can't wait to see how it looks with some stitching on it. this is about 1/4 of the entire piece.

Heidi how did this turn out as far as color setting? And if it turned out what watercolor pastels did you use?

The color setting is fine, well, sort of. I work with the watercolor pastels a lot and they heat set just fine. Especially if you use an acrylic medium in your water. This piece was different in that instead of simply using the watercolor pastels more like a watercolor, I used them more like a crayon for slightly beeswaxy effect, and sgraffito effect. The part I can't quite figure out is how to make sure that the wax layers on top are more permanent. I need to maybe research how folks who work with wax handle the longevity issues. thanks for looking!

oh, and i use a variety of brands of watersoluble crayons, pastels, pencils, etc. the ones i use most often are Neocolor II's watersoluble wax pastels. Hope that helps.
